Petrovac is a small, relaxed resort on Montenegro’s Budva Riviera, set between the busier town of Budva and the port city of Bar. It suits holidaymakers who want a coastal base with attractive scenery, a walkable centre and a calmer atmosphere than Montenegro’s livelier resorts. The seafront is the main focus, with a sheltered bay, a palm-lined promenade and cafés and restaurants looking out towards the water.

The resort’s main beach sits directly in front of town, so it is easy to spend the day swimming, sunbathing and wandering back to the promenade for lunch or a drink. The beach is a mix of sand and fine shingle, with clear water and a gently curving bay. South of the centre, Lučice Beach is one of the area’s most popular spots, reached by a short walk or local transport. It feels a little more tucked away, with pine-covered slopes behind it. Further south, Buljarica Beach offers a longer, more open stretch of coast and is a good choice for those who prefer a bit more space.

Petrovac has a pleasant, low-key dining scene rather than a big nightlife focus. Along the promenade and in the streets behind it, you will find seafood restaurants, pizzerias, cafés and places serving Montenegrin favourites such as grilled meats, fresh fish and local salads. Evenings are usually about a relaxed meal, a stroll by the sea and a drink at a waterfront bar. Travellers looking for late-night clubs are more likely to head to Budva.

For sightseeing, the small Kastio fortress at the northern end of the bay is one of Petrovac’s best-known landmarks and offers lovely views across the coastline. Offshore, the islets of Katič and Sveta Nedjelja are a distinctive part of the scenery, often seen from the beach and promenade. Boat trips, coastal walks and swimming are popular in the warmer months, while nearby places such as Sveti Stefan, Budva Old Town, Lake Skadar and Stari Bar can be visited on day trips.

Overall, Petrovac is best for a laid-back Montenegro holiday with beaches, scenic views, easy evenings out and access to the wider coast without staying in the busiest resort areas.
