The Seven Hanging Valleys Trail, one of the Algarve’s best-known coastal walks, can be joined nearby at Vale Centeanes and follows a rugged route towards Praia da Marinha, passing cliff formations and ocean viewpoints along the way. Boat trips are another major draw, with local operators offering tours along the coast to see caves, hidden beaches and rock arches, including the famous Benagil area.

In the resort centre, you’ll find a useful mix of restaurants, cafés and bars, many clustered around the beach and surrounding streets. Seafood is a highlight, alongside Portuguese favourites and international options aimed at holidaymakers. Evenings in Carvoeiro are generally laid-back, with drinks on terraces, casual bars and occasional live music rather than a clubbing scene.

Carvoeiro works well for couples, friends and families who like a scenic base with plenty within walking distance. It is also well placed for exploring the wider Algarve, including Lagoa’s wine country, coastal villages, golf courses and some of the region’s most photographed beaches.
