You will find late-opening bars, music venues and a sociable atmosphere in the centre, particularly in summer, but it still suits couples, groups and families who want somewhere with atmosphere rather than non-stop clubbing.

Popular things to do include boat trips to the caves and cliffs, kayaking or paddleboarding around the coast, dolphin-watching excursions, coastal walks and day trips to nearby towns such as Sagres or Portimão. With a mix of beach time, history, good food and scenic coastline, Lagos works well for UK holidaymakers who want a classic Algarve break with plenty of local character.
