The pinewoods and dunes behind the resort offer pleasant walking and cycling routes, while nearby Vila Real de Santo António has a handsome riverside setting, a grid of historic streets and ferry links across the Guadiana River to Ayamonte in Spain. Castro Marim and its surrounding salt marshes are within easy reach and are particularly interesting for birdwatching, nature walks and a glimpse of the region’s salt-producing heritage.

Holidays in Monte Gordo suit couples, families and older travellers looking for a flat, walkable resort with a good beach and a calm pace.
