About Antalya City holidays

Antalya City is a lively Mediterranean base that combines a historic old town, a working harbour, easy beach access and a wide choice of places to eat and drink. It suits holidaymakers who want more than a simple beach break, with culture, coastal scenery and resort comforts all within reach.

The heart of the city is Kaleiçi, Antalya’s atmospheric old quarter. Its narrow lanes are lined with restored Ottoman-era houses, small hotels, cafés, shops and restaurants, with the Roman-era Hadrian’s Gate marking one of the best-known entrances. Downhill, the old harbour is a popular spot for a stroll, a drink with a view or a boat trip along the coast.

Beach time is easy to fit in. Konyaaltı Beach, west of the centre, is a long pebble beach backed by cafés, walking areas and views towards the mountains. Lara Beach, to the east, is known for its longer stretch of sand and is often linked with larger resort hotels. Both are straightforward options for a day by the sea, though the best choice depends on where you are staying.

There is plenty to do away from the beach. Antalya Museum is one of the city’s key cultural attractions, especially for anyone interested in the ancient sites of the region. Düden Waterfalls are also a popular trip, with the Lower Düden falls dropping dramatically into the Mediterranean. The city is well placed for excursions to archaeological sites such as Perge, Aspendos and Termessos, making it a practical base for exploring the wider Antalya region.

Eating out is a big part of a holiday here. You will find Turkish grills, seafood restaurants, meze, pide and casual cafés, particularly around Kaleiçi, the marina and the seafront districts. Evenings can be relaxed or lively, with rooftop bars, harbour-side venues and music bars in the old town, rather than a single dedicated nightlife strip.

Overall, Antalya City works well for couples, friends and independent travellers who like a mix of sightseeing, beach days, local dining and easy access to day trips.
