About Kemer holidays

Kemer is a well-established resort on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, set between the clear blue sea and the pine-covered Taurus Mountains. Around 40 kilometres southwest of Antalya, it offers a scenic base for a beach holiday with plenty to do beyond the waterfront.

The resort has a relaxed but lively summer atmosphere, with a smart marina, a seafront promenade, shops, cafés and a good choice of restaurants. Many places serve Turkish favourites such as grilled meats, meze and fresh fish, alongside familiar international dishes. Evenings tend to centre on dinner by the harbour, drinks in the resort centre or music bars that stay busy in peak season, rather than a huge clubbing scene.

Kemer’s beaches are mostly pebble and shingle rather than soft sand, so beach shoes can be useful. Moonlight Beach, close to the marina, is one of the most popular spots, with calm water, sunbeds and places to eat nearby. The sea is typically clear, making the area appealing for swimming, snorkelling and boat trips along the coast. Many excursions visit quiet coves, bays and nearby ancient sites, giving a good mix of relaxation and sightseeing.

The mountain backdrop is one of Kemer’s biggest strengths. Active travellers can look for walking routes in the surrounding countryside, while the Olympos cable car to Mount Tahtali is a popular day out for wide views over the coastline. History lovers can visit Phaselis, an atmospheric ancient Lycian and Roman site set among pine trees beside the sea, or head towards Olympos and the natural flames of Chimaera.

Kemer suits couples, groups and families who want a coastal resort with organised amenities, attractive scenery and easy access to day trips. It is particularly good for travellers who enjoy swimming, boat tours, harbourfront dining and exploring a little of Antalya’s nature and history without staying in a large city.
