About Manavgat holidays

Manavgat is a relaxed resort town on Turkey’s Antalya coast, best known for its river setting, waterfalls and easy access to the beaches and ancient sights around Side. It has a more local, lived-in feel than some purpose-built beach resorts, making it a good choice if you want hotels, restaurants and shops within reach, but also a glimpse of everyday Turkish life.

The Manavgat River is the town’s main landmark. Riverside restaurants serve grilled fish, meze and Turkish dishes in shaded settings, and boat trips often run along the river towards the coast, with views of the surrounding countryside. Manavgat Waterfall is one of the area’s most popular stops. It is not especially high, but the wide, foaming cascade and riverside cafés make it a pleasant place for a short visit, particularly outside the hottest part of the day.

For beach time, many visitors head towards nearby Side, Sorgun or Titreyengöl, where there are sandy stretches, beachfront hotels and organised watersports in season. Manavgat works well as a base if you like being close to the coast without staying directly on the seafront.

The town centre is practical and easy to explore, with cafés, bakeries, shops and a large market that attracts both locals and holidaymakers. The bazaar is a good place to browse textiles, spices, leather goods and souvenirs, though polite bargaining is common. Evenings are generally low-key, centred on meals, drinks and hotel entertainment rather than a major clubbing scene. For livelier bars, nearby Side usually has more choice.

Manavgat also puts you within easy reach of several memorable days out. The ancient ruins of Side, including the Temple of Apollo and Roman theatre, are a short journey away. Further inland, excursions may visit Köprülü Canyon for rafting and scenery, or the Taurus Mountains for village tours and viewpoints. With its mix of river scenery, local atmosphere and access to the wider Antalya region, Manavgat suits travellers who want a varied Turkish holiday rather than a beach-only break.
