Side is one of Antalya’s most characterful beach resorts, combining a relaxed Mediterranean holiday setting with some of Turkey’s best-preserved ancient ruins. The old town is the heart of Side. You do not need to be a history expert to enjoy it; many of the sights are easy to reach on foot from the centre.

Side is also well known for its beaches. West Beach is generally the busier and more developed stretch, with shallow water in many areas, beach bars and water sports. East Beach tends to feel a little quieter in parts, with a longer, more open shoreline. Both are convenient for a classic beach holiday, and many hotels are set along the coast outside the old town.

Eating out in Side is straightforward, with a mix of Turkish restaurants, seafood spots, international menus and casual places for snacks and drinks. Evenings are sociable rather than overwhelmingly lively. You will find bars, music venues and cocktail terraces, especially around the old town and harbour, but Side is not usually seen as a full-on party resort.

Popular things to do include boat trips along the coast, visiting nearby Manavgat for its river, market and waterfall, or exploring other ancient sites in the wider Antalya region. Side works well for couples, families and anyone who likes the idea of a beach break with plenty to see nearby. Its appeal lies in the easy mix of seaside relaxation, walkable historic sights and a friendly resort atmosphere.
