About Altinkum holidays

Altinkum is a relaxed Aegean resort on Turkey’s west coast, best known for its sandy beaches, easy-going seafront and familiar holiday feel. Although it is often linked with flights into Bodrum-Milas, the resort itself sits in the Didim area and has long been popular with UK holidaymakers looking for sun, sea and a straightforward beach break.

The main focus of Altinkum is its waterfront. Main Beach is the busiest and most central stretch, with golden sand, shallow water and a promenade lined with cafés, bars and restaurants. It is a convenient choice if you like having everything close by, from snacks and drinks to sunbeds and boat trip stands. Nearby Second Beach and Third Beach tend to feel a little quieter, while still offering places to eat and drink within easy reach.

Evenings in Altinkum are sociable rather than overly polished. Around the seafront and Dolphin Square you will find a mix of Turkish restaurants, international menus, British-style pubs, cocktail bars and casual places showing sport. Nightlife is generally relaxed and holiday-focused, with music bars and late drinks available for those who want them, but it is also easy to keep things low-key with a meal by the sea.

There is more to do than stay on the sand. Boat trips are a popular way to see the coastline, often stopping at bays and swimming spots around the Didim peninsula. Didim Marina is another pleasant place for a stroll, especially in the evening. For history, the Temple of Apollo at Didyma is one of the area’s standout sights and is only a short journey from the resort. Day trips can also take you to ancient sites such as Miletus and Priene, giving Altinkum a useful base for combining beach time with a little culture.

Altinkum suits couples, friends and families who want a friendly resort with beaches, casual dining and a familiar holiday atmosphere. It is not the most secluded spot on the Aegean, but it is easy to navigate, welcoming and well set up for a simple, sun-filled Turkish holiday.
