About Gumbet holidays

Gumbet is a lively beach resort on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula, set around a sheltered bay just a short distance from Bodrum town. It is a popular choice for UK holidaymakers who want an easy-going sun holiday with plenty close at hand, from beach days and boat trips to bars, restaurants and nearby sightseeing.

The resort’s main focus is Gumbet Beach, a long curved stretch of sand and shingle with shallow water in many parts, making it well suited to relaxed swimming and days spent by the sea. Sunbeds, beach cafés and water sports are widely available in season, with options such as paddleboarding, jet skiing and parasailing usually found along the bay. Boat trips are also a favourite way to explore the coastline, often stopping at quiet coves and swimming spots around the peninsula.

Gumbet has a casual, holiday-focused atmosphere. During the day it feels laid-back, with visitors moving between the beach, poolside hotels and seafront restaurants. In the evening, the resort becomes much livelier. Bar Street is the main nightlife area, with music bars, karaoke venues and late-night spots that appeal to travellers looking for a sociable night out. It is not as large as Bodrum, but it is one of the better-known nightlife resorts in the area.

Food is easy and varied, with Turkish restaurants, grills, seafood places, cafés and familiar international menus. You can keep things simple with a beachside lunch, try meze and kebabs in a local restaurant, or head into Bodrum for a wider choice around the marina and old town.

One of Gumbet’s advantages is its location. Bodrum is close by and easy to reach by taxi or local dolmus, making it simple to visit Bodrum Castle, the harbour, shops and waterside restaurants. The old windmills on the hillside between Gumbet and Bodrum are also a well-known local landmark and offer views across both bays. With Milas-Bodrum Airport within convenient reach, Gumbet works well for a straightforward beach break with a lively resort feel and plenty of options nearby.
