About Alcudia holidays

Alcudia is one of northern Majorca’s best-known holiday resorts, set between a long sandy bay and a characterful old town. It suits travellers who want an easy beach break with plenty close by, but it also has enough history, scenery and day-trip options to feel more varied than a simple fly-and-flop resort.

The main beach, Playa de Alcudia, is a major draw. It stretches for several kilometres along the Bay of Alcudia, with pale sand, shallow water and a good choice of cafés, beach bars and watersports in the busier sections. The gently shelving shoreline makes it particularly popular with families, while the length of the beach means it is usually possible to find quieter spots by walking further along towards Playa de Muro.

Away from the seafront, Alcudia’s old town gives the resort much of its appeal. Enclosed by medieval walls, it has narrow streets, stone houses, small squares and a relaxed choice of restaurants and cafés. The weekly market is a popular time to visit, with stalls selling local produce, clothing and souvenirs. Just outside the walls are the remains of the Roman city of Pollentia, one of Majorca’s most important archaeological sites.

Port d’Alcudia is the main holiday hub, with a marina, promenade and a wide selection of places to eat. Restaurants range from casual family-friendly spots to traditional Mallorcan cooking, seafood and international menus. Evenings are generally lively rather than wild, with bars, hotel entertainment and relaxed drinks around the port and beach areas. Those looking for clubbing on a large scale may prefer other resorts, but Alcudia works well for sociable nights without an intense party scene.

There is plenty to do nearby. Boat trips run from the port, including coastal cruises and excursions towards Formentor. Nature lovers can visit S’Albufera Natural Park, a wetland area known for walking trails and birdlife, close to Playa de Muro. The northern mountains and Cap de Formentor are also within reach for scenic drives, viewpoints and walks. With its combination of beach, history and accessible activities, Alcudia is a practical and appealing choice for a Majorca holiday.
