The Balearics are one of the most varied island groups in the Mediterranean, offering far more than a single style of holiday. Menorca is quieter and more low-key, known for clear-water coves, countryside, walking trails and a gentler resort atmosphere. It suits travellers looking for a slower pace, particularly around areas such as Cala Galdana, Son Bou and the island’s historic towns of Ciutadella and Mahón.

Ibiza has a well-known nightlife scene, especially around Ibiza Town, Playa d’en Bossa and San Antonio, but it also has a calmer side with pine-covered hills, small coves, rural villages and stylish beach restaurants. The old town of Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the island’s cultural highlights.

Formentera is the smallest of the main islands and is often visited by ferry from Ibiza. It is best suited to simple, relaxed holidays, with pale sandy beaches, turquoise water and a laid-back feel.

Food across the Balearics reflects both island traditions and Spanish influences. Expect seafood, local cheeses, sobrasada sausage, ensaïmada pastries and plenty of Mediterranean produce. Whether you want a beach-based package holiday, a scenic walking break, a lively resort stay or a quieter island escape, the Balearics offer a wide range of options without losing their distinctive island identity.
