About Colonia Sant Jordi holidays

Colonia Sant Jordi is a relaxed coastal resort on Majorca’s south-east coast, in the municipality of Ses Salines. Once a small fishing port, it has grown into a popular holiday base while keeping a fairly laid-back, local feel. It suits travellers who want good beaches, easy seafront walks and a quieter atmosphere than Majorca’s larger resorts.

The coastline is the main reason many people choose Colonia Sant Jordi. The resort has a harbour and several nearby sandy spots, including Es Dolç and the small beach by the port. A little further along the coast are some of Majorca’s best-known natural beaches, including Es Trenc, famous for its pale sand, clear shallow water and undeveloped surroundings. Es Carbó is another attractive option for those who do not mind a walk, with a more secluded feel than the resort beaches. Facilities vary from beach to beach, so it is worth taking water and sun protection if you are heading beyond the main resort area.

The harbour is the focus of daily life, with boat trips, fishing boats and a pleasant promenade for an evening stroll. One of the most popular excursions is a boat trip to Cabrera Archipelago Maritime-Terrestrial National Park, a protected group of islands known for its clear water, wildlife and rugged scenery. Trips are weather-dependent and usually need to be booked in advance during busy periods.

Colonia Sant Jordi has a good choice of restaurants and cafés, many set around the harbour or close to the seafront. Menus often feature seafood, paella, tapas and Mediterranean dishes, alongside familiar options for visitors. Nightlife is low-key, centred on relaxed bars, terraces and hotel entertainment rather than late-night clubs.

Away from the beach, visitors can explore the salt flats around Ses Salines, visit the nearby town for a quieter local atmosphere, or hire a car to see more of southern Majorca. Overall, Colonia Sant Jordi is a strong choice for a beach-focused Majorca holiday with natural scenery, calm evenings and easy access to some of the island’s most appealing coastal landscapes.
