About El Arenal holidays

El Arenal is a lively beach resort on Majorca’s south coast, set at the eastern end of the wide Bay of Palma. It is best known for its long sandy beach, busy seafront promenade and easy access to both Palma and the airport, making it a convenient choice for a sunshine break with plenty close at hand.

The beach is the main focus of holidays in El Arenal. It forms part of the long Playa de Palma stretch, with pale sand, generally calm water and a promenade lined with cafés, bars, shops and places to hire sunbeds. It is a practical resort beach rather than a secluded escape, so expect a sociable atmosphere, especially in high summer. Watersports and boat trips are usually available locally, and the promenade is good for a walk or cycle towards neighbouring Playa de Palma and Can Pastilla.

El Arenal has a casual, energetic feel. By day, many visitors spend their time on the beach, around hotel pools or at Aqualand El Arenal, one of Majorca’s best-known waterparks. There is also a small marina area, which gives the resort a slightly different feel away from the busiest beach bars. For a change of scene, Palma is within easy reach for sightseeing, shopping and restaurants, with highlights including the cathedral and old town.

Eating out in El Arenal is straightforward and informal. Along the seafront and nearby streets you will find Spanish restaurants, tapas bars, seafood options, pizzerias, burger places and international menus aimed at holidaymakers. It is a resort that suits travellers who like plenty of choice rather than quiet, tucked-away dining.

Nightlife is a major part of El Arenal’s appeal. The resort has a strong bar and club scene, particularly in summer, with music bars, pubs and late-night venues around the seafront and surrounding streets. This makes it popular with groups and younger travellers, but it can feel noisy in peak season. If you want a very peaceful Majorca holiday, you may prefer a quieter resort; if you want beach days, easy evenings and a lively atmosphere, El Arenal is a practical and well-connected option.
