About Llucmajor holidays

Llucmajor is a traditional inland town in the south of Majorca, well suited to holidaymakers who want a quieter base with easy access to the coast, countryside and Palma. Rather than a purpose-built beach resort, it has a local, lived-in feel, with a central square, historic streets, cafés and small restaurants where the pace is relaxed throughout the day.

The heart of the town is Plaça d’Espanya, a pleasant spot for coffee, people-watching and browsing the local market when it is on. Around the centre you’ll find the parish church of Sant Miquel, traditional stone buildings and the former convent of Sant Bonaventura, which add character without making the town feel overly touristy. Llucmajor is also known for its surrounding rural landscape, with almond groves, quiet lanes and country houses dotted across the municipality.

Beaches are not in the town itself, so a car is useful if you want regular beach days. From Llucmajor, you can drive to several south-coast spots, including Cala Pi, Sa Ràpita and the wider Es Trenc area, all offering a very different feel from the inland town. The busier resort area around S’Arenal is also within reach for a more conventional seaside atmosphere.

Eating out in Llucmajor is generally low-key and local, with tapas bars, bakeries and restaurants serving Mallorcan and Spanish dishes. Evenings tend to be calm rather than lively, centred on drinks in the square or dinner on a terrace. If you’re looking for late-night clubs and a big resort strip, this is not the best choice, but Palma and the coastal resorts are accessible for more nightlife.

Popular things to do nearby include visiting the prehistoric site of Capocorb Vell, walking or driving up to the Randa area and the Santuari de Cura for far-reaching views, cycling through the countryside, or playing golf at courses in the surrounding area. Llucmajor works especially well for independent travellers, couples and anyone who prefers a genuine Mallorcan town with beaches and sightseeing close enough for day trips.
