Palma Nova is one of Majorca’s best-established resorts, set on the island’s south-west coast and popular with UK holidaymakers looking for an easy beach break. It has a relaxed, sociable feel, with a long seafront promenade, plenty of places to eat and drink, and a choice of sandy beaches within a short walk of most hotels and apartments.

The resort is centred around three main beaches: Playa de Palma Nova, Son Maties and Es Carregador. All are sandy, gently shelving and well suited to swimming, sunbathing and lazy days by the sea. The promenade makes it simple to move between them, with cafés, ice-cream stops and sea-view terraces along the way. In season, you’ll usually find watersports available, such as pedalo hire and paddleboarding, along with boat trips running from the local area.

Palma Nova is lively without feeling as intense as neighbouring Magaluf. Evenings tend to revolve around casual restaurants, family-friendly bars, cocktail spots and hotel entertainment. There is a broad mix of food, from British favourites and international menus to Spanish restaurants serving tapas, seafood and paella. If you want bigger clubs and later nights, Magaluf is close by, but many visitors prefer staying in Palma Nova for its slightly calmer atmosphere.

Things to do in the resort are easy-going rather than complicated. Golf Fantasia, a tropical-style mini-golf course, is a popular option, especially in the evening. The flat seafront is good for a stroll, and there are regular buses and taxis to Palma, Majorca’s capital, where you can visit the cathedral, browse shops and explore the old town. Nearby Portals Nous and Puerto Portals offer a smarter marina setting for a change of scene.

Palma Nova suits couples, families and groups who want a convenient Majorcan resort with good beaches, a wide choice of accommodation and plenty on the doorstep. It is particularly appealing if you like being able to walk to the beach, restaurants and bars without needing a car.
