About Port Dandratx holidays

Port d'Andratx, often written as Puerto de Andratx, is a stylish harbour resort on the south-west coast of Majorca. Set around a sheltered natural port with the Tramuntana foothills behind it, it has a more grown-up, relaxed feel than many of the island’s larger holiday resorts. The main focus is the waterfront, where fishing boats sit alongside yachts and the promenade is lined with cafés, restaurants and bars.

This is a good choice if you want scenic surroundings, good food and a quieter base rather than a busy beach-and-club holiday. The resort is particularly enjoyable for wandering around the marina, stopping for a drink by the water and watching the harbour activity as the light changes in the evening. Restaurants are a real part of the appeal, with plenty of places serving seafood, Mediterranean dishes and Spanish favourites, alongside smarter dining spots overlooking the port.

Port d'Andratx is not known for a large sandy beach in the centre of the resort. There are places to swim nearby, including rocky coves and bathing areas such as Cala Llamp, while sandy beaches such as Camp de Mar and Sant Elm are within easy reach by taxi, hire car or local transport depending on the season. This makes the resort better suited to travellers who are happy to explore the coast rather than those wanting a beach directly outside the hotel.

Popular things to do include boat trips along the coast, coastal walks, browsing small shops and galleries, and visiting the nearby town of Andratx, which has a more traditional inland feel and a weekly market. The surrounding area is also well placed for scenic drives and walks on the edge of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO-listed mountain landscape.

Evenings in Port d'Andratx are polished but generally low-key. Expect relaxed wine bars, harbourfront terraces and late dinners rather than big nightclubs. For couples, friends and independent travellers looking for a refined Majorcan resort with excellent views and a calm atmosphere, Port d'Andratx is a very appealing base.
