One of the best-known experiences is the vintage wooden tram that runs between Puerto de Sóller and the town of Sóller, passing citrus groves and giving an easy way to explore the inland valley. From Sóller, the historic train to Palma is a popular day out. Boat trips also run from the port, often along the dramatic north-west coastline, including routes towards Sa Calobra when conditions allow.

Puerto de Sóller is also a strong base for exploring the Tramuntana mountains. Walkers can enjoy coastal paths, viewpoints and routes towards places such as Deià, while the area is also popular with road cyclists. For a simple local outing, the walk towards the Cap Gros lighthouse offers memorable views back across the bay. Overall, Puerto de Sóller is best for travellers who want coastal scenery, good food and access to Majorca’s mountain landscapes rather than a busy party resort.
