Jandia is one of Fuerteventura’s best-known beach resorts, set on the island’s southern peninsula around a long sweep of pale sand and clear Atlantic water. It suits holidaymakers who want a relaxed Canaries break with plenty of space, reliable sunshine and an easy-going resort feel rather than a busy party scene.

The main attraction is the coastline. Playa de Jandia and Playa del Matorral stretch for miles, with wide sandy areas, shallow sections at low tide and views towards the Jandia lighthouse. The beach is backed in places by protected salt marsh, so some access is by marked paths and boardwalks. Conditions can be breezy, as is common across Fuerteventura, which helps keep temperatures comfortable and makes the area popular for windsurfing and other watersports.

Jandia has a practical resort layout, with many hotels and apartments set close to the beach, shopping centres and seafront walking routes. Just along the coast, Morro Jable adds a more traditional feel, with a harbour, older streets and a good choice of restaurants. Food is generally informal, with seafood, Canarian dishes, tapas, Italian restaurants and familiar international options all easy to find.

Evenings in Jandia are usually low-key. Expect hotel entertainment, cocktail bars, terraces and a few late-opening venues rather than large clubs. This makes it a good choice for couples, beach-focused holidays and anyone who prefers a calmer base.

There are also worthwhile things to do beyond the beach. Boat trips often run from Morro Jable harbour, including dolphin and whale-watching excursions when conditions allow. Walkers can head inland towards Pico de la Zarza, the highest point on Fuerteventura, while more adventurous day trips lead into Jandia Natural Park and the wild west-coast beach of Cofete. Roads in this area can be rough, so organised tours or suitable vehicles are often the easiest option.

Jandia is around the far south of the island, so transfers from Fuerteventura Airport take longer than to northern resorts. In return, visitors get a spacious, scenic base with some of the island’s finest beaches on the doorstep.
