About Puerto Mogan holidays

Puerto Mogán is one of Gran Canaria’s most attractive coastal resorts, set on the island’s sunny south-west coast. Often known as Puerto de Mogán, it has a more relaxed, village-like feel than the larger resorts elsewhere on the island, with a pretty marina, whitewashed buildings, bougainvillea-covered lanes and small footbridges around the canal-style waterways.

The resort is a good choice if you want a slower-paced holiday with plenty of places to eat, stroll and sit by the water. The beach is compact but appealing, with golden sand, a sheltered bay and generally calm water, making it well suited to swimming and paddling. Behind the beach you’ll find cafés, shops and restaurants, while the marina area is ideal for an evening wander.

Food is a big part of the appeal in Puerto Mogán. Many restaurants are clustered around the harbour and seafront, serving fresh fish, Canarian dishes, tapas, Italian food and relaxed international options. It is more about long lunches and laid-back dinners than big nights out. Nightlife is low-key, with a few bars and terraces for drinks, but travellers looking for clubs and late-night entertainment may prefer livelier resorts such as Playa del Inglés or Puerto Rico.

Popular things to do include wandering through the old fishing quarter, visiting the marina, browsing the weekly market, and taking boat trips along the coast. Excursions often run from or near the harbour, including coastal cruises and dolphin-spotting trips, depending on season and sea conditions. There are also viewpoints above the resort where you can look back over the beach, harbour and surrounding cliffs.

Puerto Mogán works well for couples, older travellers and families who prefer a gentle pace, attractive surroundings and convenient resort facilities. It is not the biggest resort on Gran Canaria, and that is part of its charm. With its sheltered beach, scenic harbour and easy-going atmosphere, it offers a pleasant base for a sunny Canaries holiday without feeling too hectic.
