About Callao Salvaje holidays

Callao Salvaje is a relaxed seaside resort on Tenerife’s south-west coast, close to Playa Paraíso and a short drive from the busier Costa Adeje area. It suits holidaymakers who want a quieter base with restaurants, bars and the sea close by, without being in the middle of Tenerife’s larger resort centres.

The main beach is Playa de Ajabo, a compact volcanic beach with dark sand and shingle, set below the resort and protected by breakwaters. It is a good spot for sunbathing, swimming in calm conditions and watching the sunset, with views out across the Atlantic and, on clear days, towards La Gomera. The beach area has a laid-back feel rather than a big-resort atmosphere, and there are places nearby for a drink or meal.

Callao Salvaje has a practical selection of restaurants and cafés, including Canarian and Spanish options, seafood, Italian food and familiar international choices. Evenings are generally low-key, with a handful of friendly bars rather than late-night clubs. For bigger nightlife, shopping centres and a wider choice of restaurants, Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos are reachable by taxi, bus or hire car.

Things to do in and around Callao Salvaje are mostly simple and easy-going: beach time, coastal strolls, long lunches and sunset drinks. The surrounding coastline is rugged and scenic, and nearby Playa Paraíso offers another small resort area to explore. If you want more activity, excursions are straightforward from this part of Tenerife. Popular options include boat trips from Puerto Colón, visits to Siam Park or Aqualand in the Costa Adeje area, golf at Golf Costa Adeje, and day trips into Teide National Park.

Callao Salvaje is a good choice for couples, mature travellers and anyone looking for a calm Tenerife holiday with easy access to the island’s larger attractions. A car is useful if you plan to explore widely, although local buses and taxis can cover many nearby journeys. Some parts of the resort are on slopes, so it is worth considering location if mobility is a concern.
