About Jersey holidays

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, sitting just off the coast of Normandy while remaining an easy, familiar choice for UK holidaymakers. It combines sandy bays, cliff paths, harbour towns and a distinctive mix of British and French influences, making it a varied destination for a short break or a longer island holiday.

The capital, St Helier, is the main hub for shopping, restaurants and museums, with a working harbour and easy access to nearby beaches. It is a practical base if you want plenty of places to eat and good transport links around the island. For a more relaxed coastal stay, St Brelade’s Bay is one of Jersey’s best-known beach resorts, with a wide sandy beach, seafront dining and watersports in season. St Aubin offers a pretty harbour setting, restaurants and views across the bay towards St Helier, while Gorey on the east coast is known for its colourful waterfront and the impressive Mont Orgueil Castle above the harbour.

Jersey’s coastline is one of its biggest draws. The south and west offer broad sandy beaches such as St Ouen’s Bay, popular with surfers and walkers, while the north coast is more rugged, with dramatic cliffs, coves and walking routes. Inland, country lanes, farms and wooded valleys give the island a peaceful rural feel, despite its compact size.

There is plenty to do beyond the beach. Jersey War Tunnels explores the island’s Second World War occupation history, while Mont Orgueil Castle and Elizabeth Castle bring centuries of island heritage to life. The island is also known for excellent local produce, including seafood, Jersey Royals and dairy products, so eating out is a real part of the experience, from harbour cafés to smarter restaurants.

Holidays to Jersey suit travellers who want coastal scenery, good food, gentle exploring and a destination that feels close to home but still noticeably different. With short travel times from the UK and a manageable island size, it is easy to see several areas in one trip without feeling rushed.
