Tucepi Holidays

Tucepi is a relaxed seaside resort on Croatia’s Makarska Riviera, set between the clear Adriatic Sea and the steep slopes of Biokovo mountain. It is best suited to holidaymakers who want beach days, scenic walks and an easy-going Dalmatian atmosphere rather than a large, busy resort.

The main draw is Tucepi’s long pebble beach, which runs for several kilometres along the waterfront. The water is typically clear and calm, making it good for swimming and snorkelling, while pine trees provide welcome shade in places. As with many Croatian beaches, sea shoes can be useful for comfort on the pebbles. Sunbeds, parasols and seasonal water sports are usually available in the busier sections, with quieter spots found by walking a little further along the shore.

A seafront promenade links much of the resort, lined with cafés, ice cream stops, small shops and restaurants. Dining is generally informal, with plenty of places serving grilled fish, seafood, pizzas, pasta and traditional Dalmatian dishes. Evenings in Tucepi tend to be low-key: think sunset drinks by the water, relaxed cocktail bars and dinner on a terrace. For a livelier night out or a wider choice of bars, nearby Makarska is easy to reach by taxi or local transport.

There is more to Tucepi than the beach. The dramatic Biokovo Nature Park rises just behind the coast and is a major attraction for walkers, photographers and anyone who enjoys mountain views. Excursions into the park, including trips towards the Biokovo Skywalk area, are popular, though the mountain roads are best tackled with care or on an organised tour. Boat trips along the coast and to nearby islands such as Brac or Hvar are also commonly offered in the summer season.

Tucepi works well for couples, families and anyone looking for a scenic, beach-focused Croatian holiday with enough restaurants and activities to keep things interesting, while still feeling smaller and calmer than some of the larger resorts on the Riviera.
