About Albir holidays

Albir is a relaxed Costa Blanca resort set between lively Benidorm and picturesque Altea, making it a good choice for holidaymakers who want the coast without staying somewhere too hectic. It belongs to the municipality of L’Alfàs del Pi and has a noticeably laid-back, international feel, with plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars but a gentler pace than its bigger neighbour.

The main seafront is Playa del Albir, a long pebble and shingle beach with clear water and a wide promenade. It is better suited to swimming, sunbathing and seafront strolls than sandcastle-building, so beach shoes are useful if you plan to swim. The promenade is one of the resort’s best features, lined with places to stop for coffee, lunch or an evening drink, and backed by views towards the mountains and the bay.

One of Albir’s biggest draws is its access to the Serra Gelada Natural Park. The walk to the Faro de l’Albir lighthouse is especially popular: it follows a paved route through coastal scenery with viewpoints over the Mediterranean, Benidorm skyline and the cliffs around the park. It is a relatively easy walk for many visitors, though it can feel exposed in hot weather, so water and sun protection are important.

Eating out is straightforward, with restaurants serving Spanish, Mediterranean and international food. You will find tapas, rice dishes, seafood, casual cafés and familiar options for those who prefer simple holiday dining. Evenings are generally low-key, centred on restaurants, terraces and friendly bars rather than late-night clubs. If you want a much bigger nightlife scene, Benidorm is only a short journey away.

Albir also works well as a base for exploring the surrounding area. Altea, with its whitewashed old town and sea views, is close by, while Benidorm offers theme parks, shopping and a much busier resort atmosphere. For UK holidaymakers looking for a comfortable Costa Blanca break with sea views, good walks and a calm evening scene, Albir is a practical and pleasant option.
