About Costa Blanca holidays

Costa Blanca holidays centre on one of Spain’s best-known Mediterranean coastlines, running along the province of Alicante in the Valencian Community. It is a varied region, with lively resorts, quieter harbour towns, long sandy beaches, rocky coves and a mountainous backdrop that makes it more than just a fly-and-flop destination.

Benidorm is the most famous resort, known for its broad beaches, high-rise skyline and wide choice of restaurants and entertainment. Alicante offers a more city-style break, with a historic old town, marina, seafront promenade and Santa Bárbara Castle overlooking the bay. Further north, Altea has whitewashed streets and sea views from its old town, while Calpe is instantly recognisable for the Peñón de Ifach rock and its mix of beaches, walking routes and seafood restaurants. Jávea and Dénia are good choices for a more relaxed coastal stay, with coves, marinas and access to the Montgó Natural Park.

The coastline is one of the Costa Blanca’s biggest draws. You’ll find family-friendly beaches with plenty of facilities in the main resorts, as well as smaller coves around places such as Moraira, Benissa and Jávea. Many beaches are suited to swimming and sunbathing, while boat trips, paddleboarding, snorkelling and coastal walks are popular in the warmer months.

Food is a real part of the experience. As part of the Valencian region, the Costa Blanca is a good place to try rice dishes, seafood, grilled fish, tapas and local wines. Resort areas cater well for British visitors, but traditional Spanish restaurants and market halls are easy to find, especially in towns such as Alicante, Dénia and Villajoyosa.

Away from the shore, the region has attractive day-trip options. Guadalest is a small hilltop village with dramatic views, while the Algar waterfalls are a popular inland excursion. Nature lovers can explore coastal parks, mountain trails and salt-lagoon landscapes near Torrevieja. With regular flights from the UK to Alicante and a broad choice of resorts, the Costa Blanca suits travellers looking for sun, scenery, good food and flexible holiday options.
