Alicante’s standout landmark is Santa Bárbara Castle, set high on Mount Benacantil above the resort. The views over the marina, rooftops and coastline are a real highlight, and it is well worth visiting early or later in the day during warmer months. Around the harbour and marina, you will find restaurants, bars and pleasant walking areas, while the city centre has shops, markets and museums for a change of pace.

Evenings in Alicante can be as low-key or lively as you want. Many visitors start with dinner in the old town or along the waterfront, followed by drinks in the bars around El Barrio. It is lively at weekends and in peak season, but Alicante is not only a party resort; it suits couples, friends and families who want a mix of beach time, culture and good food.

Alicante also works well for exploring more of the Costa Blanca. The tram connects the city with several coastal towns, including Benidorm and Altea, and local transport makes it straightforward to get around without hiring a car. With its airport close by, central beach, historic sights and year-round city life, Alicante is a practical and enjoyable choice for a Spanish sunshine holiday.
