About Denia holidays

Denia is a characterful harbour resort on the northern Costa Blanca, set between long Mediterranean beaches and the Montgó mountain. It has a more lived-in feel than some purpose-built resorts, with a working port, a historic centre, a busy marina and plenty of places to eat, drink and wander. For UK holidaymakers, it suits a relaxed beach break with a good mix of culture, food and outdoor scenery.

The town’s coastline offers two quite different seaside experiences. To the north, the Las Marinas area has wide, sandy beaches that stretch for several kilometres, making it a popular choice for swimming, sunbathing and easy-going days by the sea. To the south, Las Rotas is rockier, with small coves and clear water that appeal to snorkellers and walkers. The seafront paths and beach bars give the coast a laid-back feel, especially outside the busiest summer weeks.

Denia’s old town is one of its main attractions. The castle, which rises above the centre, has views across the rooftops, marina and coastline, and its surrounding streets are good for a leisurely stroll. Around the town you’ll find traditional tapas bars, cafés, seafood restaurants and more contemporary dining, with Denia well known for its food scene. The port area is also a focal point, with ferries to the Balearic Islands and waterfront places for a drink or meal.

For active days, the Montgó Natural Park sits just behind the resort and offers walking routes with impressive coastal views. Boat trips, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling are also popular, particularly around the clearer waters near Las Rotas and the Cabo de San Antonio area.

Evenings in Denia are sociable rather than wild. Expect terrace bars, restaurants, marina drinks and a pleasant summer buzz, rather than large-scale clubbing. With its combination of beaches, harbour life, good food and natural surroundings, Denia is a strong choice for travellers who want a Costa Blanca holiday with both relaxation and local character.
