About Pineda holidays

Pineda is a relaxed seaside resort on Catalonia’s Maresme coast, often featured in Costa Brava holiday programmes thanks to its position south of Blanes and close to the region’s best-known resorts. It suits holidaymakers who want a straightforward beach break with a local feel, good transport links and a calmer atmosphere than nearby Calella or Lloret de Mar.

The seafront is the main draw. Pineda has a long, open beach with coarse golden sand and plenty of space for sunbathing, swimming and walking beside the Mediterranean. The promenade is pleasant for an evening stroll, with cafés and beach bars opening seasonally. As with many beaches on this stretch of coast, the sea can deepen quite quickly, so it is worth taking care if you are travelling with less confident swimmers.

Away from the beach, Pineda has a lived-in town centre rather than a purpose-built resort feel. Around the central squares and shopping streets you will find bakeries, tapas bars, ice-cream shops and restaurants serving Catalan, Spanish and Mediterranean dishes. Seafood, grilled meats, paella-style rice dishes and simple set menus are widely available, alongside familiar options for visitors who prefer something easy-going.

Nightlife in Pineda is low-key. Evenings tend to revolve around terrace drinks, hotel entertainment and relaxed bars rather than late clubs. Anyone looking for a livelier night out can head to nearby Calella, while returning to Pineda for a quieter base.

There are a few worthwhile sights if you want a break from the beach. The parish church of Santa Maria, local squares and traditional streets give the town some character, while the remains of the Roman aqueduct and the wooded hills behind Pineda add interest for walkers. The surrounding area is also good for gentle exploring, whether that means a coastal walk, a visit to neighbouring Santa Susanna and Calella, or a train trip along the coast towards Barcelona.

Overall, holidays to Pineda are best suited to travellers who value beach time, relaxed dining and easy day trips over big-resort nightlife or a packed sightseeing schedule.
