Evenings can be as low-key or as lively as you want: there are cocktail bars, music venues and late-opening spots, particularly in the summer months, but it is not solely a clubbing resort.

Away from the beach, Platja d'Aro offers good shopping, with a mix of fashion stores, boutiques and familiar brands. Nearby Castell d'Aro, the older inland part of the municipality, has a more traditional character with stone buildings and a medieval centre. Day trips are also easy from here, whether you want to explore other Costa Brava towns such as Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell, or head inland to Girona for historic streets, museums and restaurants. Overall, Platja d'Aro is a strong choice for a flexible Costa Brava holiday with beaches, dining and coastal walks all within easy reach.
