For things to do away from the beach, Sohail Castle is one of Fuengirola’s best-known landmarks, sitting on a hill near the river at the western end of town. The area around the castle is good for views and walks, and it hosts events at certain times of year. Bioparc Fuengirola is another popular attraction, known for its compact, leafy setting and focus on natural-style habitats. The town also has a weekly market, a harbour area and easy access to nearby resorts.

Fuengirola is especially convenient for UK holidaymakers because it is linked to Málaga Airport by the coastal train line. Day trips to Málaga city, Benalmádena, Torremolinos and the white village of Mijas are all simple, making it a good choice if you want a beach holiday with the option to explore more of the Costa del Sol.
