About Marbella holidays

Marbella is one of the Costa del Sol’s best-known resorts, combining long sandy beaches, a polished seafront and a charming historic centre. It has a more upmarket feel than some neighbouring resorts, but it still works well for a relaxed beach holiday, a food-focused break or a sunny escape with plenty to do close at hand.

The resort stretches along the coast with a wide choice of beach areas. Playa de la Fontanilla is one of the most convenient, close to the centre and backed by a promenade lined with cafés, chiringuitos and restaurants. Further west, the Golden Mile connects Marbella with Puerto Banús, with beach clubs, smart hotels and sea-view dining along the way. The Paseo Marítimo is ideal for a gentle walk, morning run or sunset stroll, with the Mediterranean on one side and plenty of places to stop for a drink or meal.

Away from the beach, Marbella’s Old Town is one of its highlights. Whitewashed lanes, flower-filled balconies and small squares give it a very different atmosphere from the seafront. Plaza de los Naranjos is a popular focal point, surrounded by restaurants and historic buildings, while the surrounding streets are good for browsing boutiques, tapas bars and cafés.

Marbella has a strong dining scene, ranging from casual seafood restaurants and tapas bars to stylish international restaurants. Evenings can be as low-key or lively as you like. The Old Town suits relaxed drinks and dinner, while the seafront and Puerto Banús offer a more glamorous nightlife scene, including cocktail bars, late-night venues and marina-side people-watching.

Popular things to do include boat trips from the marina, coastal walks, shopping in the centre or Puerto Banús, and day trips to nearby places such as Málaga, Mijas or Ronda. Golf is also a major draw in the surrounding area, with several courses within easy reach. With beaches, history, restaurants and day-trip options all close together, Marbella is a versatile Costa del Sol holiday choice for travellers who want comfort, sunshine and variety.
