About Kas holidays

Kaş is a characterful harbour resort on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, known for its relaxed atmosphere, clear water and attractive old-town streets. It is often reached from Dalaman Airport, with a scenic but fairly long transfer along the coast, so it suits travellers who are happy to trade a shorter journey for a more laid-back, less built-up resort.

The centre of Kaş is compact and easy to explore on foot. Around the harbour and main square you’ll find whitewashed buildings, bougainvillaea-covered lanes, small boutiques and plenty of places to eat. Restaurants range from simple lokantas serving Turkish dishes to harbourfront spots specialising in meze, grilled fish and Mediterranean-style cooking. Evenings are sociable rather than rowdy, with relaxed bars, live music in some venues and rooftop terraces, but Kaş is not a destination for large clubs or a big party scene.

Beaches in and around Kaş are mostly pebbly rather than sandy, with beautifully clear water for swimming and snorkelling. Little Pebble Beach is close to the centre, while Big Pebble Beach is a little further out and has a handful of waterside restaurants. Limanağzı, reached by water taxi or walking route, is a popular choice for a quieter day by the sea. Kaputaş Beach, one of the area’s most photographed coves, is also within day-trip distance between Kaş and Kalkan.

There is plenty to do beyond sunbathing. The small ancient theatre of Antiphellos sits just outside the centre and is a memorable place to visit, especially around sunset. Boat trips are a major part of holidays in Kaş, with popular routes including Kekova, where you can see remains of the sunken Lycian city from the water. Sea kayaking, diving and snorkelling are also well established here thanks to the clear, sheltered bays. Walkers can explore sections of the Lycian Way, with coastal views and ancient sites along the route.

Overall, Kaş is best suited to holidaymakers looking for scenery, independent restaurants, boat trips and a relaxed Turkish coastal feel rather than a large resort packed with all-inclusive hotels.

Kas Holidays FAQs

Yes, but it is better for clear-water swimming and small pebble beaches than long sandy stretches. Little Pebble, Big Pebble and Limanağzı are popular local options, while Kaputaş Beach can be visited on a day trip.
