About Olu Deniz holidays

Olu Deniz is one of the best-known resorts on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, set beneath pine-covered mountains around a sheltered lagoon and a sweeping shingle-and-sand beach. It suits holidaymakers who want a scenic, relaxed base with easy access to boat trips, water sports and plenty of places to eat and drink, without the scale of a large city resort.

The main beach, often called Belcekiz Beach, faces the open sea and has a dramatic mountain backdrop. Around the headland is the famous Blue Lagoon, a protected, calm stretch of water that is especially popular for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. Some parts of the lagoon area have organised beach facilities, while the seafront by the main resort has cafés, bars and restaurants close to the water.

Olu Deniz has a compact centre, so most visitors can walk between the beach, shops and restaurants. Dining is casual and varied, with Turkish grills, meze, seafood, pide, international menus and familiar options for British travellers. Evenings are lively in the summer, with cocktail bars, music bars and relaxed seafront venues, though the atmosphere is generally more holiday-resort than heavy clubbing. For a bigger night out, many people head up to nearby Hisaronu, which has a wider choice of bars.

One of the area’s most famous activities is tandem paragliding from Babadag Mountain, landing near the beachfront. It is a major draw for adventurous visitors and offers superb views over the lagoon and coast. Boat trips are another classic Olu Deniz experience, with routes often visiting coves and islands along the coastline. Trips towards Butterfly Valley and St Nicholas Island are popular, depending on sea conditions and the operator.

For walkers, the start of the Lycian Way is close to the resort, offering coastal paths and elevated viewpoints, though summer heat can make early starts sensible. Fethiye is also within easy reach for harbour strolls, markets and a broader choice of restaurants. With its striking scenery, beach-focused days and easy-going evenings, Olu Deniz is a strong choice for a sun holiday with plenty to do nearby.
