About Ibiza holidays

Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands, sitting in the Mediterranean off the east coast of Spain. It is best known for its lively summer atmosphere, but holidays here can be surprisingly varied, with pine-covered hills, sheltered coves, whitewashed villages and a coastline that ranges from busy beach resorts to quiet rocky inlets.

The main resorts each have their own character. San Antonio is popular for sunset views, boat trips and a broad choice of bars and restaurants, especially around the bay. Playa d’en Bossa is one of the island’s liveliest areas, with a long sandy beach, beach clubs and easy access to Ibiza Town. Santa Eulalia, on the east coast, has a more relaxed feel, a marina, seafront promenade and a good selection of restaurants, making it a comfortable base for couples and families. Portinatx and Cala Llonga are smaller and quieter, with attractive coves and a slower pace.

Ibiza’s beaches are a major part of its appeal. Cala Comte is known for clear water and views towards small offshore islands, while Cala Bassa offers soft sand and pine-fringed surroundings. Cala d’Hort has views of the dramatic Es Vedrà rock, and Las Salinas is close to protected salt flats and dunes. Many beaches are suitable for swimming and snorkelling in calm weather, while boat trips are a good way to reach coves that are harder to access by road.

Away from the coast, Ibiza has a gentler side. Ibiza Town’s old quarter, Dalt Vila, is a UNESCO-listed fortified hilltop area with cobbled lanes, historic walls and wide views over the harbour. Inland villages such as Santa Gertrudis and San Carlos are good for relaxed lunches, artisan shops and a glimpse of the island beyond the resorts. Local restaurants serve Mediterranean and Balearic dishes, with seafood, rice dishes and tapas widely available.

Ibiza works well for both short breaks and longer summer holidays. The island is compact, so hiring a car can be useful for exploring, though buses and taxis connect the main resorts. Whether you want beach days, scenic coves, historic streets or a sociable resort base, Ibiza offers plenty of choice without needing to travel far.

Ibiza Holidays FAQs

It depends on the style of holiday you want. Playa d’en Bossa and San Antonio are good for a livelier atmosphere, Santa Eulalia suits a more relaxed break with restaurants and a marina, and Portinatx or Cala Llonga are better for quieter beach stays.
