Portinatx is a small, scenic resort on Ibiza’s quieter north coast, well suited to holidaymakers who want clear water, easy beach days and a relaxed pace rather than a full-on party scene. Set around sheltered coves and pine-covered hills, it has a more low-key feel than the island’s larger resorts, while still offering enough restaurants, bars and activities for a comfortable holiday.

The main draw is the coastline. Portinatx has several sandy coves, including S’Arenal Gros and S’Arenal Petit, both popular for swimming and sunbathing thanks to their clear, shallow water. The beaches are compact rather than vast, so they can feel busy in peak summer, but their sheltered setting makes them especially appealing for couples and families. Snorkelling is a good option around the rocky edges, and you’ll often find seasonal watersports such as paddleboarding, kayaking or pedalo hire.

The resort centre is small and easy to get around, with a choice of casual restaurants, cafés and beach bars. Dining is generally relaxed, with menus often featuring Mediterranean dishes, seafood, tapas, pizzas and familiar options for children. Evenings tend to be sociable but gentle, with a few bars for a drink after dinner rather than late-night clubbing. If you want Ibiza’s famous nightlife, you’ll need to travel to larger resorts or Ibiza Town.

For something more active, the walk to the Moscarter Lighthouse is one of the best-known local outings. The route follows a rugged stretch of coast and offers excellent sea views, so sturdy footwear and water are sensible, especially in hot weather. Boat trips and coastal excursions are also popular in season, giving a different view of the northern coastline.

Portinatx is a good choice if you want a peaceful Ibiza holiday with attractive beaches, scenic surroundings and a village-like atmosphere. It is more remote than many Ibiza resorts, so hiring a car can be useful if you plan to explore markets, inland villages or other parts of the island.
