About Limassol holidays

Limassol is one of Cyprus’s most versatile coastal resorts, offering a mix of seafront relaxation, historic sights, good restaurants and an easy-going evening scene. Set on the island’s south coast, it suits holidaymakers who want more than a quiet beach break, with plenty to explore without feeling like a purpose-built resort.

The seafront is a major part of Limassol’s appeal. The long promenade is ideal for a stroll, with palm trees, sea views and places to stop for coffee or a meal. Beaches in and around the resort are generally darker sand or shingle rather than the pale sandy bays found elsewhere in Cyprus, but they are convenient and well served. Akti Olympion and Dasoudi are popular choices close to town, while Lady’s Mile, a short journey away, offers a more spacious coastal setting.

Limassol’s old town is one of its most enjoyable areas, with narrow streets, small shops, cafés and tavernas around Limassol Castle. The marina adds a more modern side, with waterfront dining and a smart setting for an evening walk. Food is a real highlight, from traditional meze and grilled seafood to international restaurants, wine bars and relaxed bakeries.

There is nightlife in Limassol, but it is varied rather than one-dimensional. You will find cocktail bars, late-opening venues and beach clubs in season, alongside quieter restaurants and harbourfront drinks. It is a good option for couples, groups and older families who like a choice of evenings out without needing a full party resort.

Limassol is also a useful base for sightseeing. Nearby highlights include the ancient site of Kourion, known for its Greco-Roman theatre and coastal views, and Kolossi Castle, linked to the island’s medieval history. The Troodos foothills and wine villages are within reach for day trips, giving visitors a taste of inland Cyprus as well as the coast.

Overall, Limassol works well for UK holidaymakers looking for a lively but well-rounded Cyprus holiday, with beaches, culture, dining and day-trip options all close at hand.
