Larnaca is one of Cyprus’s most convenient and easy-going holiday regions, set on the island’s south-east coast and home to the country’s main international airport. The region’s main base is Larnaca city, where the palm-lined Finikoudes seafront is the natural hub. The Church of Saint Lazarus is one of its standout landmarks, while the old Turkish quarter of Skala has narrow streets, craft shops and a more traditional feel. Just outside the centre, Larnaca Salt Lake is an important wetland, best known for its winter flamingos, and the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque sits peacefully on its banks.

Along the wider Larnaca coastline, resorts and villages such as Oroklini, Pyla and Pervolia offer a quieter alternative to staying in the city, with easy access to beaches and local places to eat. The region is also a practical choice for exploring: Nicosia, Limassol and the beaches around Ayia Napa and Protaras can all be reached by road, making day trips realistic for many visitors.

Food is a big part of a Larnaca holiday. Expect Cypriot tavernas serving meze, grilled halloumi, souvlaki, fresh fish and seasonal salads, alongside international restaurants in the busier coastal areas. Evenings tend to be relaxed, centred on seafront dining, coffee, cocktails or a walk along the promenade rather than large-scale clubbing.

For activities, Larnaca offers watersports, diving, boat trips, cycling along flatter coastal routes and gentle sightseeing. It is a good fit for couples, friends and families who want a sunny Cyprus holiday with beaches, culture and everyday convenience close at hand.
