About Makadi Bay holidays

Makadi Bay is a purpose-built Red Sea resort area south of Hurghada, known for its calm setting, sandy beaches and clear water. It suits holidaymakers who want an easy, resort-based break rather than a busy town atmosphere. Most hotels here are large, well-equipped resorts, many with all-inclusive options, pools, beach areas and organised activities, so it is a straightforward choice for a relaxing week in the sun.

The bay itself is the main attraction. The shoreline is generally sandy, with warm, clear water and good conditions for swimming, although some areas have coral or rocky patches, so water shoes can be useful. Snorkelling is a major draw, with reefs and colourful marine life accessible from parts of the coast and on local boat trips. Diving centres operate in and around the resort, offering options for beginners as well as more experienced divers.

Makadi Bay has a quieter feel than central Hurghada. Evenings tend to revolve around hotel restaurants, bars, live music and entertainment rather than a big nightlife scene. There are also dining and shopping areas within the wider resort zone, including places where visitors can find cafés, casual restaurants and souvenir shops, but the choice is more limited than in Hurghada city.

Popular things to do include snorkelling cruises, diving trips, glass-bottom boat excursions and desert experiences such as 4x4 or quad-bike tours. Golf is also available nearby, and some hotels provide access to waterpark-style facilities or family-friendly activities. For a change of scene, Hurghada Marina and the city’s shopping areas can be reached by taxi or organised transfer. Longer excursions to Luxor are possible from Makadi Bay, though they involve a full day of travel.

Makadi Bay is best for couples, families and anyone looking for a relaxed Red Sea holiday with reliable sunshine, good hotel facilities and easy access to the sea. If you want a lively local town on your doorstep, Hurghada may be a better fit, but for a comfortable beach resort with snorkelling and a peaceful pace, Makadi Bay is a strong choice.
