For broader sandy or shingle beaches, local buses, taxis or hire cars make it easy to reach resorts elsewhere on the island.

Eating out is one of the pleasures of staying here. You’ll find traditional tavernas serving Corfiot dishes, smart restaurants in atmospheric lanes, bakeries, gelato shops and relaxed harbourfront places for seafood and meze. Evenings are sociable rather than wild, with wine bars, cocktail bars and cafés around the old town, Liston and waterfront areas. It suits couples, friends and independent travellers who want atmosphere without needing a large clubbing scene.

Corfu Town also works well as a base for exploring. Boat trips, island tours and buses to nearby resorts are easy to arrange, and the airport is close by, so transfers are usually straightforward.
