The coastline here is sheltered by Corfu’s east coast, so the sea is often gentler than on the island’s west-facing beaches.

Many restaurants are family-run and geared towards relaxed evening meals rather than fine dining. For a change of scene, the neighbouring resort of Messonghi is close by and offers more seafront tavernas and bars.

Nightlife in Moraitika is low-key compared with places such as Kavos or Sidari. Evenings tend to centre on restaurant meals, a few drinks in a bar, and occasional live music or entertainment during the summer season. It suits couples, families and older travellers who prefer sociable but not overly noisy nights.

There are enough things to do nearby for a varied holiday. Boat trips run from the local area in season, and buses or hire cars make it possible to explore Corfu Town, traditional villages, viewpoints and beaches around the island. Achilleion Palace, near Gastouri, is one of the best-known cultural sights within reach, while the island’s green interior offers scenic drives and walks. Moraitika works particularly well if you want a beach-based Corfu holiday with restaurants close at hand and easy access to other parts of the island.
