The harbour is the centre of daily life, with cafés, restaurants and small shops clustered along the water. The atmosphere is smart but still laid-back, and nightlife is generally low-key, focused on cocktails, wine bars and late drinks by the marina rather than clubs.

There are several lovely swimming spots close to Fiskardo. Emblisi Beach is one of the most popular nearby, with white pebbles, flat rocks and clear turquoise water. Foki Beach, set in a sheltered bay backed by cypress trees, is another favourite and feels more peaceful outside peak times. Dafnoudi Beach is a small, secluded cove reached by a walking path, making it a good choice for those who do not mind a little effort. Beaches in this part of Kefalonia are mostly pebbly, so sea shoes can be useful.

Things to do in Fiskardo include wandering the harbour, exploring the old lighthouse area, taking boat trips along the coast or across to neighbouring Ithaca, and enjoying coastal walks through olive groves and woodland. Hiring a car is also worthwhile if you want to visit more of northern Kefalonia, including Assos and Myrtos Beach, though the winding roads mean journeys can take time.

Overall, Fiskardo is best for couples, independent travellers and anyone who values scenery, good food and a refined village atmosphere. It is not the cheapest or liveliest resort on Kefalonia, but it offers one of the island’s most memorable settings.
