Lindos Holidays

Lindos is one of Rhodes’ most distinctive resorts, set around a hillside village of whitewashed houses, narrow lanes and views across the Aegean. It has a more traditional feel than some of the island’s larger resorts, with much of the centre best explored on foot. The lanes can be steep and busy in summer, but they are part of the appeal, leading past small shops, cafés, tavernas and rooftop restaurants.

The main landmark is the Acropolis of Lindos, which sits high above the village. The climb is one of the resort’s classic experiences, rewarded with sweeping views over the coastline and the sheltered bays below. Go earlier or later in the day if you prefer cooler conditions, especially during the peak summer months.

Beach holidays work well here too. Lindos has a sandy main beach close to the village, with shallow water that is good for swimming. Nearby St Paul’s Bay is smaller and especially scenic, framed by rocky headlands and overlooked by the Acropolis. It is popular, so it can feel busy in high season, but it is one of the most memorable spots in the area.

Eating out is a big part of a holiday in Lindos. You will find traditional Greek tavernas, seafood restaurants, casual cafés and atmospheric rooftop venues where dinner often comes with a view. Evenings are lively without feeling like a full-on party resort. There are cocktail bars and late-opening spots, but the nightlife is generally relaxed compared with larger Rhodes resorts.

Lindos suits couples, friends and families who want a scenic base with beaches, history and plenty of places to eat and drink within easy reach. The village’s stepped lanes and hillside setting mean it is less suitable for anyone who struggles with walking, although taxis and local transport can help for trips beyond the resort. Many visitors also use Lindos as a base for exploring more of Rhodes, including Rhodes Town, quieter beaches along the east coast and traditional inland villages.
