Cala Gonone is a small seaside resort on Sardinia’s east coast, set below limestone hills on the Gulf of Orosei. Cala Gonone’s restaurants are mainly casual and welcoming, with seafood, Sardinian pasta dishes, grilled meats and local wines appearing on many menus. You will also find pizzerias, gelaterias and simple bars along the seafront and in the village. Nightlife is low-key: expect relaxed drinks, evening strolls and the occasional live music venue rather than clubs and late-night strips.

This is a good choice for couples, active travellers and families with older children who enjoy boat trips and nature. A hire car can be useful for exploring Dorgali, mountain viewpoints and other parts of the east coast, though many visitors are happy to spend much of their time around the harbour, beaches and coastal excursions. Cala Gonone works best for a scenic, sea-focused Sardinian holiday with a slower pace.
