About Porto Cervo holidays

Porto Cervo is the best-known resort on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda, set around a sheltered marina on the island’s north-east coast. It was developed as a high-end holiday destination, and it still has a polished, exclusive feel, with smart waterfront restaurants, designer boutiques, luxury yachts and elegant low-rise architecture that blends into the rocky landscape.

The resort is a good choice if you want a stylish Sardinian break with easy access to some of the island’s most attractive beaches. Porto Cervo itself is centred on the marina and the Piazzetta, where you can wander between cafés, shops and sea-view terraces. The Stella Maris Church, just above the harbour, is also worth a look for its distinctive architecture and views over the bay.

Beaches are a major part of the appeal, though many of the best stretches are just outside the resort rather than in the very centre. Grande Pevero and Piccolo Pevero are among the closest, with pale sand and clear, shallow water. A little further along the coast, beaches such as Capriccioli and Romazzino are popular for swimming and scenic coastal views. Hiring a car is useful if you want to explore several beaches during your stay, as public transport can be limited.

Dining in Porto Cervo tends to be upmarket, with a strong focus on seafood, Sardinian ingredients and marina-side settings. You will find refined restaurants, relaxed cafés and hotel dining, although it is sensible to expect higher prices than in many other Sardinian resorts. Evenings are sophisticated rather than rowdy, with cocktail bars, lounge-style venues and a summer social scene that is busiest in July and August.

Porto Cervo suits couples, groups of friends and travellers looking for a premium resort atmosphere. It is less suited to anyone seeking a traditional budget beach town or a packed sightseeing itinerary. For a quieter experience, late spring and early autumn can be appealing, with warm weather, clearer roads and a more relaxed feel while still offering access to the coast and resort facilities.

Porto Cervo Holidays FAQs

Yes. Porto Cervo is close to several beautiful Costa Smeralda beaches, including Grande Pevero, Piccolo Pevero, Capriccioli and Romazzino. The best beaches are generally a short drive from the resort centre, so a hire car can make beach-hopping much easier.
