Evenings in Agrigento are generally relaxed rather than lively. Expect wine bars, cafés, restaurants and a gentle passeggiata, with more of a holiday feel down by San Leone in the warmer months. This suits couples, culture-focused travellers and anyone who prefers authentic surroundings over a purpose-built resort.

Popular things to do include visiting the Valley of the Temples at sunset, exploring the archaeological museum, walking through the historic centre, taking a coastal drive, and sampling local Sicilian food. A car can be useful for beaches and nearby sights, but the town itself is best explored on foot. Agrigento is a strong choice for a Sicily holiday with substance: atmospheric, historic and close enough to the coast for a varied stay.
