About Enfidha holidays

Enfidha is best known to UK holidaymakers as the gateway to Tunisia’s central east coast, with Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport serving many of the country’s most popular resort areas. The region sits between Hammamet and Sousse, making it a useful starting point for holidays that combine beach time, historic towns and easy day trips.

The main holiday resorts reached from Enfidha include Hammamet, Yasmine Hammamet, Port El Kantaoui and Sousse. Hammamet is known for its long sandy coastline, relaxed seafront hotels and atmospheric old medina, while Yasmine Hammamet offers a more purpose-built resort feel with a marina, promenades and a good choice of places to eat. Further south, Port El Kantaoui has a smart harbour setting and easy access to Sousse, where the UNESCO-listed medina, ribat and lively souks give a stronger sense of traditional Tunisia.

Closer to Enfidha, the landscape becomes more rural, with olive groves, open plains and small towns rather than large resort strips. The hilltop village of Takrouna is one of the most distinctive nearby places to visit, offering wide views across the countryside and a glimpse of traditional Berber heritage. Hergla, a small coastal town north of Sousse, is also worth considering for a quieter seaside stop, with whitewashed streets and a slower pace than the bigger resorts.

Food in the wider Enfidha region reflects the Tunisian coast, with grilled fish, couscous, brik, spicy harissa and fresh salads commonly found in hotels, local restaurants and cafés. Resort areas provide the widest choice, from casual beachside meals to international hotel dining, while medina cafés are good for mint tea and people-watching.

For activities, most visitors use Enfidha as a base for the coast: beach days, boat trips, marina strolls, shopping in souks and visits to historic sites. Day trips can include Sousse, Hammamet, Kairouan or the Roman amphitheatre at El Jem, depending on where you are staying. Enfidha suits travellers who want convenient airport access and a broad choice of Tunisian resort experiences nearby.
